The $150,000,000,000 falsehood
On Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 in a speech, Donald Trump said about the Iran nuclear deal,
“We give them $150 billion, we get nothing.”
We are only giving them their own frozen assets back. Most experts agree that it is probably less that $100 billion after deducting debt owed to other countries like China. Some say it is a lot less. Iran says it is only a net of $35 billion.
Give Peace a Chance
Whatever the eventual amount is, we didn’t sell-out or buy the treaty. We gave back captured assets. For it, we get a treaty to “give peace a chance”. For an analysis of the treaty visit Politifact.com.
Time is on the side of peace.
The younger generation is the overwhelming majority in Iran. They have internet and other access to the outside world for free thought. They vote for political moderation. They are the wave of the future. The treaty paves the way to a peaceful future.
Donald Trump has made up an unverified amount of $150 billion that is over $50 billion too high. He said we gave it to the Iranians like it came from our treasury.
He doesn’t say what we should have done. It would be nice to be able to question him about the treaty to see if he knows much of anything about it. He says anything to get attention and he gets it. He made up his own facts. Imagine him dealing with other nations.
Donald Trump has shown over and over again that he has an unsound mind that is getting worse as he ages. The last two Republican presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush won’t go near him, much less endorse him.
